Beautiful Mahogany Banjo Wheel Barometer John Abram Antique Weather Wheel. Dont miss this one! What a lovely Antique Barometer. You put this on the wall in your entryway and everyone will be so envious! Mahogany wood Banjo Style Weather Barometer. Perhaps he was an attorney or other prominent man and had this lovely weather gauge made for him. It measures a long 43 ½ tall and is 12 ¾ wide at the widest point. The lower glass pane reveals the name John Abram and a decorative design around it. There is a level in the center. For the mechanics of the barometer to work properly the item has to always be upright and level. The large dial is for the barometric pressure. It has lovely scroll style writing describing various weather attributes. The long skinny glass pane shows the temperature. And the top glass pane is meant to show Dry/Damp for humidity. There is no needle, and this is a condition issue. The back of the gauge has a long thin door that opens to reveal the glass cylinder tubes with the mercury enclosed. This is what operates the barometer. There is a small square of type written paper that has been added. It has instructions of how to operate the barometer. We have no idea how old this is. They described it as 18. But we have no confirmation that it is or is not. We believed them based up the construction of the item. We have had this hanging in our home and use it as a decorative piece. As we decided to sell it, weve been watching to see if it operates correctly. The barometric gauge hands move and seem to give accurate reading as well as the thermometer. This item is really meant as a décor item vs. A functioning weather gauge. There are a few different areas where it appears the wood seams are separating slightly. We have included photos of those areas. We do not feel they have an impact on the appearance, but that will be for the new owner to decide. We have included many photos, and if you need more, please request them. The back of the gauge shows all the little scuffs and scratches this very old weather gauge has. The upper humidity dial is missing its hands. There is dark discoloring in the corner of the paper. All condition issues described are shown in the photos. Item weight is provided for most items in the description. Please note, weight is then added for proper packing and box. Depending on the type of item, this is usually 1-2 pounds. While we have no control over the postal service prices, we can make adjusts to this. The photos are considered the main part of the description. We typically respond within 24-48 hours. Thank you for your interest.
