Pocket Barometer, Cased, Edward & Sons, 1910, Good Condition

A gilt brass pocket barometer/altimeter by Edward & Sons, Glasgow, with original case. It is 2 inches (50 mm) in diameter and in good working order, passing the’plastic bag test’. The original lacquer is intact showing only small losses here and there. The silvered dial is remarkably clean and is marked Compensated, along with the maker’s identification. The bezel with altimeter scale rotates smoothly, allowing that relative altitude changes to be indicated. A small hole on the back gives access to an adjustment screw. The case has good leather on its top and bottom but is otherwise rather tatty with losses around the sides, a missing release button, and some staining to the satin interior. The item “Pocket Barometer, Cased, Edward & Sons, 1910, Good Condition” is in sale since Tuesday, January 02, 2018.
