A superb English made late Victorian piece of surveying equipment. Made in England by the famous Keuffel & Esser Co. A laquered brass case with signs of use. 27 Large Antique Hand Carved Wood Barometer Thermometer Black Forest Germany

Marked on the face Sturm Veranderlich Bestandig. Measures 11″ x 2.5″ x 27. The wood carving on this piece is excellent. There is only a small dent in the back edge of the upper edge of the piece – see last photo – not noticeable from the front. The back plate of the thermometer appears to be metal or porcelain – hard to tell. The glass on the front of the barometer is very thick. Since we have had this piece, we’ve seen changes in the thermometer based on the inside temperature in our house and it has been accurate. But, we have not seen the arrow on the barometer move. We are not familiar with a barometer and how it works. The original owners have passed away and a family member said it was brought back from Germany many many years ago and has been used in her father’s house up until his passing. Antique ATCO Compensated Aneroid POCKET BAROMETER ALTIMETER with Case & Satchel

ATCO Compensated Aneroid Pocket Barometer & Altimeter with Case & Satchel. This antique ATCO Gilt Cased Pocket Barometer Altimeter is in it’s original leather case, it was often used for Hot Air Ballooning, Mountain Climbing, or walking. Circa 1890s – 1900s. This is an aneroid barometer, a device used for measuring atmospheric pressure without the use of fluids. It consists of a partially evacuated metal chamber, the thin corrugated lid of which is displaced by variations in the external air pressure. The Atco Pocket Barometer is in very good, pre-owned, working condition. I tested the barometer using the simple bag test and the hand moves when the pressure changes. There are no chips or cracks to the crystal glass; there is a 1mm scratch (see photo). It appears years ago the metal hoop was removed, hence the leather satchel it’s being stored in. The gold colored casing is in pretty good condition; it is brass with gold plating. There are 2 rub spots near the bezel from being moved in the tight case. The leather case has obvious signs of wear and no longer has the clasp; you can see the wood where the clasp once was. The case still does a great job protecting the instrument. The brown satchel looks newer, maybe 1940s-1960s? The barometer with it’s case fit perfectly in the satchel which show some signs of wear. Antique E. H. Paris Guilleret St. Martin Carved Wood Weather Station Barometer

Weather station measures 18.5″ tall, 10″ wide, and is 2.5 in depth. I had a hard time trying to find information of the company. I can determine though that this piece is Circa late 1800’s. The thermometer does appear to be working. The Barometer itself does not. Great piece for restoration. Please let me know if there is any other information that I can provide. Small desktop aneroid barometer with open dial. This barometer in silver brass or nickel-plated (i don’t know for sure) has a brass bezel and a dial with an open center section, which reveals the exquisite barometer mechanism and aneroid capsule. The barometer is equipped with a brass loop for hanging at the top and has a slightly less characteristic pair of brass legs at the back, which allows it to be used also as a table barometer. Inscriptions in French on the dial. It was made in France. The body has some wear and tear. Condition: working vintage condition. Dimension: diameter 8.5 cm (3.3 inch). H 11 cm/4 in. D 4.5 cm/1.8 in. Important: the age of the product is approximate. Antique items are not new items! Things that are old can be imperfect, don’t expect them to look new.
