Vintage Cottage Barometer

Cottage Barometers are a particular US phenomenon, and were made in very large quantities from around 1890 through 1930, usually by Chas. Large, Brooklyn, NY” and “J. Large & Son, Brooklyn, NY” and “Franklin Mills Co. Very occasionally they are dated, either on the painted tin face, or on the printed script on the reverse. The more commonly found ones have some variation of “Standard Barometer” or “Cottage Barometer” on the face. This example, which, like all the others measures 8 1/2″ x 3″, and has an iron pillar on each side, is one of the rarer ones, being marked “ADMIRAL”. It is only the second one with this name that I have found; I have several more that I will be putting up for sale, in the coming weeks. Short & Mason London Barograph WithCharts & Ink

For sale here is a rare and beautiful barograph made by Short & Mason of London. This one has a wood base and case with beveled glass panels. The wood frame around the glass panels having carved “Corinthian” style corners and a Victorian style drawer handle. In excellent condition, I would date this from around 1905 to 1920. Antique french black forest barometer thermometer early 1900’s woodwork

France, early 1900’s, made of wood. Depth : 2.5 in. Weight : 1lb & 10oz. Good overall condition, nice details, in working condition, EH Paris on the back (probably the reseller). My name is Greg, I’m a French guy who had business in Charlotte NC for 3 years. Unfortunately, I had to move back to France because of a slow activity. I fell in love with the US, particulary Charlotte! So now my only goal is to return to Charlotte, and for that I want to export French furnitures and antiques there! This idea came because of my love for wood and history. It is a great area to find valuable furnitures and smalls because of the proximity of wealthy ski resorts like Megève and Chamonix Mont-Blanc. It is also close to Geneva (switzerland), about 45minutes by car. The Geneva area is one of the richest in Europe due to finance and whatchmaking. Italy’s not to far as well, 40 minutes. So when you’re living and picking in this kind of environment, It is not rare to come across real pieces of art and history. Antique Maritime Barometer Guilt Mermaid Kerr Ship Line

This is a wonderful antique barometer showing a guilt metal mermaid holding the barometer in her arms. It has a porcelain dial with a black wood base with a blue and white enamel flag of the Kerr steamship line. It does work but may need a cleaning of the mechanism. It is in very nice condition showing very little wear. All the gold guilt is intact. 7.25 inches high x 3.75 diameter base.
