The instrument sits upon a brass plate which is marked’Brevetes SGDG’, an abbreviation in French for’Breveté Sans Garantie du Gouvernement’ which means Patented Without State Guarantee. The initials RF are also enclosed in the. Shield like logo and below is marked PARIS. RF’ stands for the barometer firm of the Richard Brothers (Richard Freres). The serial number of this instrument is. The Richard Freres firm was located at 8 Impasse Fessart in Paris. They also had an importing office during the same era in London, England. Most of the stylus and pillar parts of the instrument are made of solid brass. Has a replaces tip to which I guess you add a few drops of ink. There is a clockwork mechanism contained within the graph canister that drives its movement. This instrument comes with the winding key and I have tested it to verify the clock mechanism works.
