Here’s a beautiful antique Thermometer-Barometer done in the German Black Forest style. I believe it dates to around 1900. It measures 24″ tall and about 9″ at the widest point. The wood was fully hand-carved with Leaves, Vines and Cat-Tails on the upper section with the lower section Barometer being framed with a Carved Rope. The Barometer dial is enameled steel in perfect condition with lots of great period descriptive weather conditions like GALE, FAIR and FINE weather. It has a beveled glass front with brass trim. I do not know if it is functional or not. The Thermometer is on a Farenheit scale -10 to 240 degrees and FREEZING, BLOOD HEAT, SPIRIT HEAT AND WATER BOIL. It does work perfectly. At the top it’s marked PETERHEAD. I know that’s a place in Scotland and this great old thing may have come from there. A great item with lots of visual appeal.
