Here for your consideration is a beautiful hand carved Taylor Nottingham Banjo Barometer. A large Victorian piece made with outstanding craftsmanship. 41 1/2″ tall and 14″ wide. Believed to be from the mid to late 1800s. All original including the thermometer. The carving was well done with gorgeous detail. The brass bezel and brass hanger bracket shows proper patina for its age as well. The thermometer is removable. It is held in place by 2 brass screws mounted into the main body of the piece with matching keyway carved into the back of the thermometer. The top keyway is worn from years of use but, the thermometer still rests securely to the main body. The original wall hanger bracket has a crack in it and someone reinforced it with a modern bracket. There are a couple of little hairlines in the wood which are normal and natural to a item of this age. By no means is it “falling apart” Notice the oxidation to the back and in the small crevices of the carving which indicate true and proper aging. There is also an adjustment screw accessible from the back. This will look marvelous on any wall! Sometimes, something can be missed or overlooked.
