This is a vintage recording aneroid barograph made by Julien P. Friez & Sons, Baltimore, MD for the US Army Signal Corps. It has a solid aluminum base, with a glass & aluminum hood done in apart deco style consistent with it’s probable design in the 1920’s-1930′0s. All elements of this machine are intact & very likely operable. It also includes all of the ink & oil necessary to enable it’s function, including 2 like new/unopened bottles (1 oil/1 #10 special purple ink) in sealed, unopened packaging. This exact specific instrument comes out of a Movie Prop House in NM & appeared as a Set Decoration Prop in OPPENHEIMER, the Academy Award winning film shot on location here in New Mexico in 2022. This item appeared along with a number of other vintage 1940’s state of the art lab equipment in the recreation of the Trinity test sight during the reenactment of the 1st nuclear detonation for the film. This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of American Film History, as well as a historic component from the LosAlamos Laboratory where the manhattan Project itself took place.
