This is a very early dated 1850′S 8 DAY striking American cast iron bee hive clock, measuring 17 x 9 inches. The case is all cast iron, except the original wood back board, with its original case gold gilding and mother of pearl inlay. It has a large brass movement as you can see how low the winding arbors are on the case. It appears the movement is a New Haven by its design. It has a small round glass window in the base of the clock to enable you to put the pendulum on/off, and see it while the clock is running. The small window in the base has a pop in/out brass bezel.
