An antique English traveling brass compensated pocket barometer and altimeter by J Hicks London , leading maker. The altimeter does rotate. The word’compensated’ indicates that this barometer automatically adjusts the reading for changes in temperature, thereby giving a more accurate reading. Compensated barometer with an outside altitude ring. I did some research on this and from what im seeing but not sure it seems to be an earlier piece as most of the later barometers i seen had a higher number on them. Couldnt find anything on the 459 number on the face of this piece.
