The swans neck cresting centering a pediment above a dry/damp indicator, the throat with thermometer with silvered dial above a convex mirrorplate within a reeded ebony slip, the base with silvered dial barometer with convex glass and brass bezel above the adjuster post, the base fitted with a leveler marked D. The maker is probably Dominic Luvate (also spelled Luvatte), who is recorded working at 43 Friargate and 23 Friargate in Preston in 1828 and 1834 respectively. Bill of sale included. A small piece of the crest on top has just broken off but is available and easily repaired. It has been stored for the past 7 years so I cannot say that all parts work. Think of it as a display item, not a working piece. The item “MAHOGANY WHEEL BAROMETER early 1800’s 38 D. Luvate Preston” is in sale since Sunday, August 2, 2020.
