This is a wonderful early set of instruments that were made by Short & Mason of London. This is basically a pocket weather station with a Singers Patent Mother-Of-Pearl faced compass. The barometer/altimeter works perfectly and has been tested. The compass also works perfectly and the crown serves as a lock knob for the face. It appears that the thermometer has a little crack in it right by the 60 degree F mark. The backing is made out of bone or something similar. The compass and barometer are gilded brass bodies and superb. The leather case’s button latch works perfectly and the leather is in very nice shape. The compass and barometer measure 2″ in diameter and the thermometer is 2-1/2″ long. The case measures 4″ X 6-1/2″. All of our items are very securely packed.
