The carving is from Switzerland, intricately carved in Black Forest Style showing a hunting dog sitting on what might be a rock or tree stump. We see great detail in dog’s fur and face. The barometer mounted in the Swiss carving made by Barigo, and text is in French. PLUIE is Rain, and BEAU is Beautiful. This piece comes from the famous Swiss carving company Jobin, in Brienz, Switzerland. It dates to circa 1900. This is from the unsold/uncirculated stock, stored for many years as either display, imperfect, unfinished, or unclaimed special orders. These items have remained packed and stored for 100 years or more. It measures 7 7/8″ tall, 4 5/8″ wide, and 2 7/8 deep. Good used condition showing great patina.
