Please do not confuse with modern reproductions. People familiar with antique hand blown glassware items will know what a special rare nostalgic item we have here. Being a wonderful hand blown piece of glassware. Surviving in very good working order. Renaissance scientists discovered the theory that weather was influenced by air pressure. If the atmospheric pressure is high, signifying good weather, the fluid in the spout is pushed downwards. When bad weather is imminent, the fluid rises up the indicator tube. This handblown Weather Glass is a magnificent working example dating from the 19th century or perhaps earlier, and being the predecessor to modern domestic barometers. It functions as well as it did two centuries ago, reliably indicating changes in atmospheric pressure. The weather glass can forecast weather changes between 4 to 12 hours in advance. This Weather glass, is ready to hang on a hook and start to work. I do think it could be complimented by being mounted on a wooden Oak wall plaque suspended on brass hook. This nice collectable piece is about 8 ¾ (22,5cm) tall. There are no cracks, chips or hairlines on the glass. It only needs maybe a cleaning. An absolute must for your collection. All items are very professionally packed. The item “Original Antique 19thC Weather Glass Barometer” is in sale since Monday, April 24, 2017.
