PRIMITIVE HARD-TO-FIND ANTIQUE TIN WEATHER HOUSE circa 1860. This wonderful, old weather house (thermometer/hygrometer) is a rare survivor attributed to “Lovejoy”. The wax-covered string upon which the rotating figures depend, has long been broken (although the remains are still visible inside)… So the hygrometer doesn’t function and the folks ain’t telling you nothin’!!! HOWEVER, the thermometer remains intact and appears to be accurate. The brass back plate for the thermometer is interestingly marked, featuring such notations as: “ZERO”, “FREEZ-ING”, “TEMPE-RATE”, “SUMR-HEAT” and “BLOOD-HEAT”. The lithographed color has largely worn-away from the floral decals, and understandable paint losses have occurred from years of wear… NEVERTHELESS, the character and “feel” of this piece are vibrant. Please see photos for details and BE SURE TO SEE MY OTHER WEATHER HOUSE. So please be warned that dust, dirt, cobwebs, pet hair, odors (and the ghosts of previous owners) may be present. But I try to be a good guy in all of my trading activities and if there’s a problem of any kind, I encourage you to contact me, nevertheless. So please see listing for details.
