For me clocks tell the time and that is it, therefore I havent a clue as to the many terms and mechanics of a mechanical clock. Navy Rear Admiral C. She said that for the longest time her father had these mounted on a display board but sometime over the years she doesnt know what happened to the display board. The face is labeled Royal Mariner. Just below 6:00 on the outside rim is printed Made in Germany, The on/off switch controlling the bells is at 11:00. Below and slightly to the right of 12:00 is the Slow/Fast turn screw to tweak in the time the clock displays. There are 2 winding slots on the face of the clock, one on the left winds the clock, the one on the right winds the bells. There are jeweler type screws holding the face of the clock on. It appears to be easy to remove these screws, along with the time indicators. But, again, I have no intention of disassembling the clock. Neither clock or barometer have ever been cleaned with a cleaning solution or polished with Brasso or any other such substance. Schatz initially made clocks with 4 jewels, followed by platforms obtained from Switzerland with 7 jewels, then used 11 jewels for a short period prior to going bankrupt in 1986. Hermle began making the clocks using “Schatz Royal Mariner” name, however, these movements are quite different that the 11 jewels used by Schatz. Is constructed with the same quality as the clock. The clock keeps correct time once you tweak the Slow/Fast settings, if necessary. The Bells ring on the hour and half hour, but at times are not correct. Please note the following.
