Singer’s patent pocket compass barometer sterling silver mop ireland. Rare singer’s patent compass, f. Here is a rare sterling silver combination compass and barometer, set in a lovely engine turned silver case. The barometer is by f. Moore of belfast/dublin, and the compass is a singer’s patent. The compass features a hand painted face on mother of pearl. The compass has a lock, to lock in direction. The barometer face appears to be on sterling silver. The barometer can be removed from the case, and there is an adjustment hole. Note that even the inside of the case features lovely engine turning. The compass is working fine. The barometer is working, as it has moved since i brought it home today. I have also tested the barometer by placing it in a sealed inflated bag, and applying pressure to the bag. This resulted in the needle deflecting under pressure, thus simulating changes in the barometric pressure. Note that there are no hallmarks on the silver, but the silver has been tested by a jeweller, and confirmed to be sterling silver. This compass/barometer are in very good antique condition. The inside of the glass on the compass has some mop dust on it. The compass needle is slightly bent. The sterling silver case is in great condition, except for some. Note that the glass for the barometer is easily removable. The diameter of the case is 5 cm (2). The depth of the case is 2.8 cm (1.1) (including beveled glass). The whole item weighs 158 grams (5.6 oz). If you are not seeing this, please contact me. Parcel size 21 cm x 14 cm x 7 cm 300g.
