Fabulous extremely detailed porcelain dial and face, better in real life than i can picture with my camera…. I believe it dates around c. Most likely made in england….. The mercury is in the thermometer bulb even though i believe it not to be working, and no signs of damage that i can see….. The barometer seems to work a little, as i see the arrow move, but i don’t know if its accurate….. It is 150+ years old, so consider this if you want an accurate working barometer………. Overall it measures 40″ tall and 13″ wide….. The thermometer measures 2″ wide x 10″ tall and is framed in a hardwood box trim and glass face. On the extremely fine detailed porcelain thermometer face, the left side is gauged in fahrenheit and on the right side is gauged in centigrade, with the added detail of ‘blood heat’ at 37 and ‘freezing’ at 0……….
The round dial ‘glass’ face itself measures 10 diameter and glass is arched faced. The outer wood circular mount trim ring as shown in 2 pic’s has separated at the grain due to dryness or age.

The name leggat, bootle is on the dial, and i cannot find much on it, except a watchmaker in england with that name in the 1800’s. Overall it appears to be in very nice condition. Very ornate, colorful, and beautiful….

Perfect for the finest nautical collection!!! It came from a fine old estate in south carolina……

I personally think its fabulous and is one of my favorite antique items i have found in quite a few years!!! Be ready to abide by this added note. Or, on this item probably fed ex, as they are more careful. Ask questions, look at pictures, read description, b. Nothing is hidden or misrepresented.
