Solid brass french nautical holosteric barometer with twin thermometers, circa 1880. The item has a wonderful patina and and cosmetically is in great shape. It is fully functional, very sensitive and has the stamp pbhn on the back and on the dial.
I checked the readings against the local airport altimeter settings, and they were the same. The design is simple, but the exposed mechanism is also very elegant. The two mercury thermometers are in both farenheit and centigrade. The case measures approximately 8″ x 2.25″ this is a very special instrument.
