VINTAGE TAYLOR NEW YORK BAROMETER WITH ALTITUDE ADJUSTMENT PLATE! Early Taylor New York barometer… The company established in 1851 in Rochester New York started out making instruments for the professional market. It made altitude barometers for fighter aircraft, and was the standard for aircraft made during this time. During WWII, the company became a critical supplier of precision instruments such as compasses, with all of their thermometers, hygrometers and barometers going to the war effort… None for consumer use. The most interesting point of history for Taylor was its part in designing and manufacturing ultra-secret pressure instruments for the Manhattan Project (the atomic bomb). Our example is untested… Brass housing shows expected age wear with a minor edge rim dent… Top ring hanger is in place. No chips or hairlines to the glass… Interior dial shows some discoloration and age spotting here and there. Dial text is clear. Back side has an adjustable plate which allows to correct readings at altitudes from 3500 feet to 7000. Measures in at about about 5 & 1/4″ wide at the front, 2 & 3/8″ deep and 4 & 1/4 wide at the back. Uestions if you have them… We prefer our clients to have Public, rather than Private, feedback.
