1900pocket barometer / altimeter / compass / thermometer + caseengland. Antique british pocket size multi-use scientific instrument from the late 19th to early 20th century era – still with the original case. One side is a combination altimeter (0 – 8000 feet) and aneroid barometer (23 – 31 inches) – face marked ‘compensated – made in england. The other side features a thermometer (there is no curved glass temperature tube insert – it is missing) – and there is a small compass in the center (mother of pearl face and transit lock lever). The thermometer side will unscrew from the barometer side to access the barometer set screw. Gilded brass in very good condition without dents or tarnish – some age toning to dial surfaces (see photos). Compass works great – thermometer has broken glass tube as stated – i do not know if the barometer or altimeter are working or accurate. Original leather covered, double-hinged, protective case with padded silk lining is in good condition but lids are slightly warped and it is missing the clasp latch (see photos). No marker marks i can see. Measures about 2″ in diameter (50 mm) x 1″ thick (25 mm) – case measures overall about 2 1/2″ wide x 2 7/8″ long x 1 1/4 thick. Guaranteed to be old and original.
