It has fold out legs for using on a desk or table and a loop for hanging on a wall.. This is a tall thermometer measuring 13 1/2 inches when on the wall and 13 1/4 inches tall when used on a desk or table.. The thermometer is made out of bronze or brass and has its original dark brown patina with a nice ornate empire revival style and is footed with paw feet that dates this piece from the 1850s to 1870’s made during the empire revival period.. The face of the thermometer is made out of opaque white glass that is also known as milk glass and is hand painted in black with numbers in degrees and the words – blood heat – sumr heat – tempe rate – freez ing near each degree that they are considered to be… The thermometer is 100% original to the piece as seen in my pictures and is working! The condition of this thermometer is amazing!!! It is over 150 years old or so and in great shape with no damage or repairs at all..
