Primitive 17 or 18th Century French Thermometer Barometer in Wooden Case

Primitive 17 or 18th century french thermometer barometer in wooden case. This piece is a mystery to me as i have been unable to read all of the writing on it. From my research, it could be a very important piece possibly dating to the 17th century, (1600’s). The wooden case measures 13 and 1/2 long.

Towards the bottom, it looks like it says lyon 1820 but it is probably not a date as this piece is definitely much older, the wooden case was very cruedly made using lesser advanced tools and the hardware looks very primitive to me, as early as 17th century. Maybe this piece was some sort of a prototype, made to carry around for sales or advertizing purposes and so on. The condition is very good with beautiful rich patina inside and out and only missing the hook that would have kept it closed. Please super-size pictures for further condition and description details.
We will not falsify declarations forms by declaring a lower dollar amount or labeling it as a gift. Please do not ask us to make an exception.
