This is an exceptional example of antique Black Forest woodcarving, featuring a masterfully rendered St. The figure captures the classic Alpine “savior” theme, complete with the legendary brandy cask around the dog’s neck. The carving shows remarkable detail, from the thick, textured coat of the St. Bernard to the naturalistic rocky base and floral accents. Measures 13″H by 8″W. Inset into the trunk is a functional glass thermometer with a metal face displaying both Celsius and Réaumur scales. The entire piece is set upon a rocky, naturalistic base accented with carved foliage and a classic floral motif. Safety & Policy Compliance. Mercury-Free: This antique decorative item contains a spirit-filled (alcohol-based) glass thermometer tube. The underside of the base is hand-signed “ERNEST”. Signed Black Forest items are significantly more desirable and typically command higher prices than unsigned pieces. This signature likely points to a recognized master or workshop from the Brienz region of Switzerland. Potential carvers associated with this name include Ernest Roggero (documented by the Swiss Woodcarving Museum) or Ernst Heissl, a prominent 19th-century carver known for high-quality animal figures.

This is a heavy, solid-brass instrument with a classic dial and traditional weather indicators including Stormy, Rain, Change, Fair, and Very Dry. The barometer is marked “Made in France” and includes a small circular maker’s stamp (PHNB). It retains its original blued-steel pointer along with the adjustable reference pointer. The inset thermometer appears original and intact, with its sealed glass tube and readable scale. Condition & Function. Barometer responds properly to pressure changes. Thermometer tube intact and legible. Original dial with light, even age patina. Solid brass case with natural, unpolished aging. Glass crystal intact with minor expected surface wear. One Of A Kind Vintage Friez ML-3 Barograph Actual Movie Prop from OPPENHEIMER

This is a vintage recording aneroid barograph made by Julien P. Friez & Sons, Baltimore, MD for the US Army Signal Corps. It has a solid aluminum base, with a glass & aluminum hood done in apart deco style consistent with it’s probable design in the 1920’s-1930′0s. All elements of this machine are intact & very likely operable. It also includes all of the ink & oil necessary to enable it’s function, including 2 like new/unopened bottles (1 oil/1 #10 special purple ink) in sealed, unopened packaging. This exact specific instrument comes out of a Movie Prop House in NM & appeared as a Set Decoration Prop in OPPENHEIMER, the Academy Award winning film shot on location here in New Mexico in 2022. This item appeared along with a number of other vintage 1940’s state of the art lab equipment in the recreation of the Trinity test sight during the reenactment of the 1st nuclear detonation for the film. This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of American Film History, as well as a historic component from the LosAlamos Laboratory where the manhattan Project itself took place.

Antique Cyclo Stormograph Recording Barograph manufactured by Casella London. Classic mahogany and glass scientific weather instrument used for recording atmospheric pressure changes. Acquired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory in the early 1960s and was in use in the 1950s and before. Exact age unknown, but likely early 20th century. Casella are a renowned instrument maker whose origins can be traced back to as early as 1799. This is a great piece for collectors of antique scientific instruments, meteorological equipment, or laboratory memorabilia. Includes: Brush Electronics recording ink dated 09/07/1958, 3 bottles of FRIEZ instrument special No. 10 purple ink(one unopened), multiple sheets of unused vintage graph paper, lift-off all glass lid, a two-compartment chart drawer at the base. In excellent, used condition – some scuffing to the mahogany staining. See photos for full condition details. Dimensions: Base – 14.5in L x 9in W x 8.5in H(with glass cover).
