Old 1800s USTERI Reinacher ZURICH Fine Swiss POCKET BAROMETER in FITTED CASE. This listing is for what I believe to be a rare pocket barometer made by a company Usteri-Reinacher of Zurich Switzerland. Keep in mind I have NO IDEAS how this works or how to read it. This old cool scientific tool has a serial number of 4282. It is hand written on the front dial as well as stamped in the back cover. This wonderful old instrument is in a finely made case that is just as well made as the instrument. This instrument has a beveled glass front lens. The top beveled glass and copper bezel rotates with a band of number around its base. The side of this tool. Has a small scale that has the number 500 550 600 650 700 750 800. There is a small glass tube gauge to the side of that, that resembles a thermometer. There is an arm that extends from the side that holds a small magnifying glass. There is an adjustment there as well. Keep in mind I have NO IDEAS how this works or even how to read this gauge. There is an inset piece of paper that describes how to use this instrument. There are some hand written numbers that match the numbers o the front paper dial under the bevel glass. The front bezel with glass is about 3.125 inches across. It is about 3 inches deep. The leather bound fitted case is just slightly bigger and this screws inside with two screws. This case has two hinges to fit the barometer and moving arm. This is in great condition with some slight wear form being around. Some discoloration as well. The case has much more wear scuffs and scratches. The hinges all work well and the latch is a simple spring and works well. The latch has the initials LZ PARIS. You decide for sure as it is OLD and ORIGINAL. I cannot see any reasons why it would not work. PLEASE DO NOT PAY UNTIL I HAVE INVOICED YOU DIRECTLY WITH EXACT TOTALS. Here for sell just now, a great find, one rare antique LATE 19TH-CENTURY MOUNTAINEERING/BALLOONING ALTIMETER BY Th. Usteri-Reinacher N3726 the laminated brass case with revolving silver drum divided 0-10°, and containing tube thermometer, signed Th. Usteri-Reinacher N3726, the side with vernier with fixed magnifier secured within original black leather case. Marked on the case lock L. Paris ++instrument appears to be in excellent overall condition with some mild rubbing to silver side of drum. The case with typical rub marks commensurate with age.
