Antique Brass Ships Wheel Barometer Blue Enamel Trim P Galle 21 Union Square New York. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! Nice barometer here that was distributed by P. Galle of New York. Old brass work here, dates to the 1800s. There is a great enamel inlay on the outer ring of the wheel and then the inner wheel or face around the barometer. All the enamel inlay is still in place! A brass plate on the front held on by two very small screws, no inscription on the plate. Cannot say if barometer are working as have had for a short period. So saying not operational. The needle has moved up a little from where at last night, but cannot say if moving, or reading accurately. The glass over the barometer face is intact. A small blister in the glass at the 11 o’clock or where says rain on the barometer face. The numbers, markings and words on the face are incised into it. Then has, “P Galle, 21 Union Square, New York”, on the face. You have to unscrew the face to set the history needle as not an adjusting knob on the front of the case, never was. The brass metal case is intact, no dings or dents. Some loss to the finish from time, wear and corrosion. The barometer face is 2-5/8 across. It is in working condition, has holes in the back for hanging and is 7 round. Translations on the back in English. Brought to this country by a German immigrant.
