This large barometer is from France and it dates to the late 1800`s. This is a genuine old one with exceptionally fine carving. The case is made from solid oak finished to a warm dark color. The barometer appears to be working well and shows very little signs of wear. Note that there are several chips in the woodwork and a large piece towards the top is missing (see photos). This Neo Gothic style barometer is from France and it dates to the late 1800`s. This is a genuine old one with exceptionally fine carving. The case is made from solid walnut and oak and finished to a warm dark color. The barometer appears to be working well and shows very little damage. It has melodious Westminister chimes on each quarter hour, 1/4, 1/2. 3/4, 4/4, and on the hour after chiming the full Westminister tune, it then strikes the appropriate hours. It is eight day running with pendulum accessible in the rear of the clock. It ticks some and strikes now, but it should be serviced to run consistently, since it has been in a collection almost 45 years. A small indicator adjustable by a wheel placed along the tube provides an accurate value of about one-tenth of an inch. In lovely antique condition.
