Antique Black Forest Germany Barometer Carved measures 17.5″ tall and 10″ wide at widest point. The thermometer is at the top. I photographed this in a 68 degree home. Up for sale is a wonderful antique hand carved German black forrest wooden wall barometer. It’s completely carved by hand with elaborate detailing throughout and in the form of a hunting scene consisting of crossed rifles, a horned animal pediment, and other floral design. It has a recessed brass and thick beveled glass barometer on the bottom and a brass thermometer above but is missing the actual glass thermometer. It’s in nice condition and measures 24 inches long by 10 inches wide. The antique French aneroid barometer with original dial is in fine working order. The drum is supported by a bronze winged Hermes sculpture after Giambologna. The elegant and dynamic form can be appreciated from virtually any angle of view. The bronze and barometer are mounted on a rosso antico chamfered marble base. The barometer is made by Hirsch in Paris. The piece measures 13 high by 4 diameter at the base. The base shows some slight nicks to the reverse side edge.
