As found don’t know much about this item as of how it works, I think this is a rare item, the front reads Compensated Made by J. Hicks London, Eng For Paul A. On the backside has numbers scratched on 33997. Dial rotates when turning the stem. Size is about 2 in diameter. The case shows wear, front pushbutton of the case is missing. An antique English traveling brass compensated pocket barometer and altimeter by J Hicks London , leading maker. The altimeter does rotate. The word’compensated’ indicates that this barometer automatically adjusts the reading for changes in temperature, thereby giving a more accurate reading. Compensated barometer with an outside altitude ring. I did some research on this and from what im seeing but not sure it seems to be an earlier piece as most of the later barometers i seen had a higher number on them. Couldnt find anything on the 459 number on the face of this piece.
