Gorgeous highly ornate antique Victorian to Edwardian era Black Forest style hand hand carved 30 wall barometer, a beautiful piece with pierced or reticulated flowers & foliage, very French bow & ribbon accents and original thermometer! Wonderful decorative accents, these fine old Country French or Black Forest style barometers always bring an undeniable charm with them. This one not strictly a Black Forest piece but with hand carved flowers & foliage so it would fit in nicely with a variety of decorative themes. The back is a solid carved wood panel, the barometer mount and thermometer plaque applied to that rear panel. The barometer face itself is card and the text is in French, there is what appears to be a maker’s mark at the bottom center but I’ve not been able to find reference for it. One of several wonderful antique wall barometers that we’re listing this week so be sure to browse some while you’re with us. Very good to excellent condition. One tiny split (see pictures of back) but no other cracks, damage or repairs to the wood case. Original beveled glass on the barometer, original brass plaque and thermometer. GORGEOUS ANTIQUE GILTWOOD BAROMETER WITH CARVED EAGLE & FRENCH RIBBONS This is a beautiful antique barometer case that dates around the late 19th century to the early 20th century. It is obviously missing its original barometer, but I’m sure that it can be replaced with either a newer one or an older one. The case is in very good condition but it does have one crack on the ribbon on the base. Its gilt is worn from age as expected, and the wear exposes a red wash over the gesso. It measures about 40″ high by 16″ wide. This case is worth the wait to find just the right barometer to fit it! The opening on the barometer measures 9″ wide in diameter at the back and there is a 1/2″ lip on the outer carving. A beautiful and quality made piece!
