Here is a fine mid-19th century mahogany stick barometer in very good condition. It measures 36″ x 3-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ and is marked “G. TAGLIBUE 302 PEARL ST. It reads from 26 to 31 inches of mercury and is calibrated in 0.1-inch increments. The vernier reads to 0.01 inches. The well is intact but empty and there remains some mercury in the column, It could easily be refilled and made working. The wood finish is nice and overall this is in excellent shape. The only defect is at the top of the column, the beechwood cap covering the sealed top of the column has a small piece missing. It is visible in the first image. Tagliabue was an extended family of Italian descent that specialized in producing such glass instruments as thermometers, barometers, hydrometers, and hygrometers. The item “C.
