1900 French barometer has lovely inlaid wood decoration. Both thermometer and barometer appear to be working. The shield shape has lovely inlaid bell flowers, highlighted by small circles of mother of pearl. Case appears to be solid mahogany with fruitwood marquetry. Thermometer is in degrees centigrade. Barometer is labelled in French (”Tempete / Grand Pluie / Pluie ou Vent / Variable / Beau Temps / Beau Fixe / Tres Sec”). This translates as Storm / Heavy Rain / Rain or Wind / Variable / Nice Weather / Very Nice Weather / Very Dry. There is a makers mark on the back panel as shown in the last photo. Total: 20″ Tall x 9″ Wide x 2 Deep. Thermometer: 5.5″ x 1.125″. Only notable condition issue is a missing MOP circle. Wood is in good condition commiserate with age and use. No unusual finish issues. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. ANTIQUE 19th CENTURY MARQUETRY INLAID DIAL BANJO BAROMETER THERMOMETER LIKE NEW. T his piece works perfectly and has been a item of discussion in my home, time for a new home to be loved by someone else, passed down from generation to generation. The Item is in perfect shape minus a small scratch on the back that you can see in the pics. This has a broken arch pediment centered by a brass finial.
