Here we have a wonderful hand carved and gilded Italian barometer, in the French manner and featuring a carved ribbon design which extends three quarters down the main body and topped by a large French bow, the bottom one third terminating with acanthus leaves, swags and other floral devices. Original instructions and label affixed to the back. Excellent condition with some factory induced distress for that old world look. A Gorgeous Rare Antique Italian Rococo Carved Wood Gold GiltGerman Lufft. The item is about 40″ x 18″ wide at widest part. The carving and the gold are opulent and rich. The back of the wood has a sticker that reads “made in Italy”. The barometer reads Lufft Made in Germany. As shown in last pic the gold has a little crack, minor flaw in my view. The thermometer works just great. I’m not sure about if the barometer works because I’m not an expert. As shown in last pic the paint on gesso has a small line crack, which is a minor flaw in my view. The wall hook on the back needs a screw. The item is in overall excellent condition.
