This is a very clean oak Waterbury Parlor Calendar Shelf Clock with a carving on the very top of the clock. The upper 5 1/2 inch dial gives the time, while the lower 5 1/2 dial gives you the month, day of month, and day of the week. Both movements are powered by an eight day movement, and it has two winders, one to run the clock, and one for a striker. The lower dial is dated July 30, 1889. This excellent adaptation of a middle 1800’s cast bronze cartell clock case features an early 20th c. French aneroid barometer in working condition and measures an impressive 24 5/8″ tall x 13 3/4″ wide x 3″ deep with 5 1/2″ inner diameter and 7 3/4 outer back opening; the dial is app. I set the outer hand and the barometer arrow moves on its own. This is an oustanding decorator piece as is; the case is of a quality befitting a fine 19th c. The bezel retains its hinge and will not open… Probably glued (no sign of solder). For your consideration is an circa 1900 antique barometer/thermometer. The unit has a partial paper label marked thompson & sons. To me it looks like someone has refinished the unit… There is no high gloss finish on the oak as i would think there should be. The barometer face has a paper label that has a stain above the 29.2 mark. The barometer also has a beveled glass face and the thermometer works. I know the barometer used to work a few years back however the paper face doesn’t appear to be flat and i think the needle gets hung up on the paper now. Measures 31.75″ long x 9.75″ wide x 2.5 deep.
