This is a very early dated 1867 striking AND alarm American cast iron table clock, measuring 17 x 11 inches. The case is a cast iron front and sides, with an original wood back board. The cast iron front has original floral gildings in very nice condition on it. The brass movement is a striking and alarm. It has an original label on the back board, showing it was made by Jos. Frank, at 13 John St. The label was printed across the street at 10 John St. This is the first signed Frank clock I have ever seen, so a very rare clock. Lots of great vintage fabric, antiques, collectibles, old photos, vintage buttons and more being listed this week from a recent estate acquisition! Don’t know a thing about barometers, this was hanging in the den of a fine old estate. I hope you can see the face with the words, Stormy, Rain, Change, Fair, Very Dry. Very fancy lettering and the first letter of each word is in red. The’dial’ on the front works fine. Light wear to metal, wood in great condition. Glass front excellent, free of any scratches, etc. It has an opening in the back for a key or some type of devise that I don’t have. A lovely piece much finer than shown! A Rare English Georgian Faded Mahogany Bow Front Stick Barometer by Thomas Rubergall c 1810. Wonderful English Bow Front Barometer by Thomas Rubergall, London circa 1810. Flame mahogany case with ebony stringing and ebonized elements including the urn shaped cistern cover. Ebony inlays to the canted corners of the base. Beautiful swans neck pediment. Brass finial, brass setting knob. This bow front has the original spirit thermometer on the register leaving the throat clear to highlight the lovely flame mahogany grain. We believe that the glass tube and cistern are correct replacements. The silvered engraved register is signed Rubbergall, London. Optician, Mathematical & Philosophical Instrument Maker London, Princes St. Soho (1802) 27 Coventry St. (1805-23) 24 Coventry St. (1826-54) He was Optician and Mathematical Instrument maker to the Duke of Clarence and optician to King George III. Two examples of his work are pictured in ” Barometers, Stick or Cistern Tube, by B anfield “. A nearly identical barometer by Rubergall is pictured in Goodison , except without the feature of a thermometer. Goodison states Bow fronted cases enabled the case-maker to display the lighter and highly grained mahoganies to good effect… This antique barometer which is nearly 200 years old. There is some very minor. Rubbing to the barometer as one would expect. We consider this to be in very good condition. It has been well looked after. Lent Ripple Front Stick Barometer, all trim pieces are present, tube is new but correct, made exactly like old broke tube so will work correctly, cistern is the old original one, scales in nice shape, thermometer works.
