Estate Found Antique Early 20c Tycos Glass Cased Barometer For Restoration. This is a handsome estate found antique barometer from the Taylor Instruments Company of Rochester, New York circa 1920. The mahogany and beveled glass lid showcases the instrument inside. The pen stylus records the barometric pressure on the rotating paper scroll over the course of seven days. A wind-up clock movement inside of the scroll holder is responsible for the movement. Dimensions: 7 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 6 3/4 Condition: In overall good cosmetic condition consistent with age and use. As pictured, there are nicks and scratches to the mahogany framing for the case. The glass is all in tact. The barometer is in need of restoration particularly to the clockwork mechanism that turns the paper roll. The looses pieces are pictured. When the key is wound, the small adjacent cog does spin. Additionally, the inkwell and ink bottle are lost to the ages. Please examine the images. Antique 18th century english banjo wall barometer chadburn bros as found. This barometer is pictured as found with the masking tape holding shut the convex glass dome with no cracks or breaks. This barometer is the epitome of all wall mounted 18th century barometers and were very expensive when new and only the very wealthy could afford them, subsequently few were made which makes them very rare today. As can be seen from the images the 10 inch dial if beautifully engraved and signed by the maker on the level dial at the bottom of the barometer. The dial at the top is a hygrometer. The case is veneered in the finest flame / crotch mahogany and has double stringing around the edges.. This instrument has been subject of an older restoration and is in original unrestored condition , ready to go straight to your work shop. It is 38 inches long, 10 inches wide at the widest point and 2 inches deep. There is no return on this item. Please look close at the pictures as they are part of the description.
