What an INCREDIABLE FIND!!!!! Bennett we believe during the Civil War Era from solid American Walnut. The viewing door appears to be missing the catch but does not affect its usability. Legant wood case is beautifully accented with an arch molded top. Fahrenheit and mercurial tubes perfectly intact. All Barometric and Fahrenheit tubes and gages appear to be working flawlessly. The temperature scale moves effortlessly with its sliding vernier scale wheel. Unfortunately there does appear to be a stain on the faceplate occurring over the years which probably can be polished out. The hanging loop appears to be original and someone has drilled a hole toward the bottom to keep it straight. “XIV” is on etched on backside. Ready for generations of use!!! Perfect Addition to ANY Collection. Definitely for the Discerning Collector!!! Please do not ask for a discount on this item.
