Simmons Portable Stick Barometer in original stained finish (with excellent crazing). Patented March 18, 1861. This was the fancy model – the more plain one not having the wavy trim. Working thermometer – barometer needs a fill of mercury – currently empty and not working. Glass tube looks to be intact but without filling can not guarantee – see photos of exposed reservoir. May need resealing at joints. A wonderful piece for a skinny wall. Measures just under 38 tall x 3 wide x 2 deep. 1900 Era Very Fancy Carved Desk top Fancy Carved Thermometer Amazing Form for a Thermometer, in all my years in the antiques business(35 full time) I have never seen another like it. In a different style, but as good as some of the best black forest thermometers/barometers in my opinion. Exceptional carving and detail Overall Reall nice condition. Front glass has crack, easy enough to replace, that piece is a framed small box, and it fits into place by snug fit(I took it out, comes out easy enough) Has readings for blood heat, Sum R heat, Tempf Rate , Freezing Base is 15 1/8″ by approx 3 1/4″, 10 tall. Late 19th century 9 long barometer thermometer on a milk glass backing plate. With fancy black lettering. The thermometer has a swirled 1 1/2 diameter reservoir and is in excellent condition. Size of the back plate is 10 1/4″ x 1 5/8″. The milk glass back plate has a crack across where the top set of screws are attached – all the materials are there for repair. Weight is 104 grams.
