This early 19th century English Nottingham barometer is a rare and authentic piece made in the United Kingdom. With a Sheraton style design and intricate mahogany inlay, it exudes a sense of classic elegance and craftsmanship typical of that era. Beautiful sea shell inlaid throughout the mahogany. Thermometer works good but barometer doesn’t seem to work and not sure how to fix. 38 1/4″H x 10 1/4″W x 2D. ANY ITEMS STORED MORE THEN 90 DAYS WILL BE RE-LISTED AND CONSIDERED ABANDONED.

The leather case has a 3 ½” diameter with a 1 ¼” thickness. The Brass Barometer has a diameter of 2 ¾” with a 7/8″ thick body. It has a guilt surface that shows wear with tarnish in spots. The face is marked “Compensated’ “Made in England. It has areas of tarnish and mild stains. The needle moves very slowly and does not match a modern piece. Please look at the photographs as they are considered part of the description. I guarantee it to be old and as described. A beautiful open dial antique weather station, barometer, thermometer with beveled edges, carved wooden details. Very decorative interior piece! Amazing piece of history! Most likely, the weather station was made in 1905 -1910. Similar models can be seen in tariff catalogs for 1905 – 1910s. Dimensions (inch): 22×7.8×2.4. This open scale barograph in a glazed carrying case was made by Short and Mason. Changes in atmospheric pressure cause the series of aneroid capsules to move up and down. This small motion is mechanically enhanced by levers which adjust the position of the lightweight metal arm carrying a pen. The charts normally run for a week. This unit is in amazing condition, as is in the photo. I don’t have the paper for it, and it will need to have someone that knows what there doing work the unit. Its been collecting dust on a shelf forever. I will answer what questions I can, but seeing as its older than may grandparents your getting a piece of history. Thank you for your consideration.
