Altimeter with its original leather case. Made in Hamburg circa 1930 for Caracas, Venezuela distribution. It has some time and use signs and scratches but still has plenty of beauty. The leather case hinge has been detached from its place. The piece has excellent shape but its operating condition is unknown. It might need some maintenance and minimal repairs, proper inner cleaning and adjustment if you want to use it. Really beautiful, original and vintage piece, ideal for a vintage altimeter rarities collector. It might have marks of the time that has passed, some stains, discoloration, ink marks or other signs of its age are considered normal. What you are looking at, is what you receive. Barometer is brass with a standing soldier guardian on either side of the face. Guardians have removable sword/shafts. You can look into the face and see the coils of metal on the inside. Pretty writing for the weather forecast. Screws on back to open and set. 11′ tall 10′ wide. Given to us as a wedding present over 50 years ago by an aunt living in Bermuda so probably English. Vintage FRENCH Barometer in white decorative housing w/ finial – Unknown maker. French Art Deco Open Face Barometer. Casing in white oval, with see through face design. White and brass finial on bottom. Oval is about 3 1/2 inches high without finial. With finial, about 5 1/4 inches high. Oval is about 4 1/4 inches wide. Barometer face diameter is about 3 1/4 inches round. Lying face up it is about 2 inches tall/thick Actual weight of this item is 13-14 ounces. Seems functional, however, I have nothing digital to test its accuracy against. Back of casing is cracked in several spots around the edge. See photos for more details.
