It appears to be made of brass, or possibly brass plating over copper. The bevelled glass on the outside of the top has three (3) bubble type chips on the underside (not felt on the outside). The four (4) dates on the instrument are possibly earlier patent dates that range from 1837 to 1888. Made by aders & cia of santiago, cuba. I have no idea if it works or not.
