It’s very interesting. I have so many questions.. However the positioning of the mercury and the two little dots consistent with the engravings Anthony two little pins or nails in the tubes can be moved up and down the market, the high and low spots with a little magnet I have done this. It’s interesting that there’s both mercury and alcohol in the tubes is generally just a rather peculiar and interesting little item. 13 inches long made of copper and the backing is white glass i think. Perfect for the News weather girl in your life!

New York – London – Paris. 5 1/8″ Diameter x 2″ Deep. Very Nice Cosmetic Condition! Seems to be Working. Found this at a very nice upscale estate. The home was filled with many nice things! As I sit here writing the description the dial is slowwwly moving as we are receiving inclement weather today in Ohio. I do not how fast or slow the arm is supposed to move but it is definitely moving. I believe the case is copper and has a very nice patina. I have not polished it, only a wipe down as it was a little dusty. No real scratches to the glass face that I could find. However on the inside it looks a little dirty but not very noticeable. Vintage Brass & Copper LAMBRECT’S POLYMETER Late 1890’s – Early 1900’s Germany. Here is an unusual item. Turn of Century brass & copper LAMBRECT’S POLYMETER. I don’t know an actual date. Face is very clean and all the lettering is easy to read. The brass and copper has darkened, but it leaves a nice patina. The glass in the mercury thermometer is working and easy to read. It measures 9 1/2″ x 3″. There is a small screw for adjusting the needle (see image 8). The back says “Made in Germany” and has a makers mark WL? See image # 7. This barometer was manufactured by the Central Scientific Co. By the color of the metal most of the material composition, besides the wood base, appears to be brass. I believe the wood is mahogany, but it is difficult to tell. Please use photos to determine the wood type. The second plaque indicates that it was originally Government and University of Chicago property. The round glass piece at the bottom of the barometer is complete. Based on feedback from buyers, the original barometer had a round glass tube inside the brass tube. THERE IS NO GLASS TUBE INSIDE. The glass thermometer is completely intact and works. In regards to the condition, there is discoloration and staining that is normal for an item of this age. The wood appears to have been newly stained and redone. There is gouging on the wood at the top (see photo). The brass part from end to end measures about 39.5 long. The wood base measures 42.75″ long and about 4-3/8″ wide. All together it weighs about 5 lbs 6 oz. It will be appropriately packed. Please use photos to best determine value and condition. Antique porcelain dial barometer 10 red & black glaze copper rim mahogany base. An old barometer with a porcelain cream colored dial with red and black glased letters and numbers. The glass is cracked but still intact but obviously will need to be replaced. Can not test using the plastic bag test as the cracks in the glass are all the way thru to the workings. Copper rim is screwed into a mahogany base. The copper ring has some dents and dings. The screws are a bit loose probably from the wood aging. The wood frame has a nice concave ridge to give it more character. Outer dimension is 10 inches with barometer measuring 8 inches across with a 3 inch depth. Brass ring to hang.
