It is chain fusee powered and on its marble base, all under an original thin oval glass dome in excellent condition with its wooden base. High Quality Antique Pocket Barometer w/Fusee Chain and hand painted Porcelain Dial. Has the original metal case. There is a notch in the top of the dial for proper alignment in case. Has a heavy beveled glass. There is a small hole in the back of the case with an air filter to let the air pressure inside the case. All of the pivots in this scientific instrument have been oiled. Most likely made pre 1900 in Europe based on when fusee watches with chain were made. Very old, however, in excellent condition inside and out. Tested, it definitely works with pressure change.
