Antique 18th century english banjo wall barometer chadburn bros as found. This barometer is pictured as found with the masking tape holding shut the convex glass dome with no cracks or breaks. This barometer is the epitome of all wall mounted 18th century barometers and were very expensive when new and only the very wealthy could afford them, subsequently few were made which makes them very rare today. As can be seen from the images the 10 inch dial if beautifully engraved and signed by the maker on the level dial at the bottom of the barometer. The dial at the top is a hygrometer. The case is veneered in the finest flame / crotch mahogany and has double stringing around the edges.. This instrument has been subject of an older restoration and is in original unrestored condition , ready to go straight to your work shop. It is 38 inches long, 10 inches wide at the widest point and 2 inches deep. There is no return on this item. Please look close at the pictures as they are part of the description. A nice little, 19th century pocket altimeter by chadburn and son, liverpool & london. It has been closely following my other barometers with the changes in the weather. In very good condition, with much of its original gilding. Beautiful, silvered dial in excellent condition. 1 and 13/16 in diameter.

Antique barometer in weighted oak case. After several hours of research, i believe this was made by chadburn & sons around the turn of the century. The grain in the oak is gorgeous! She also stated that it works, but did not know its origin. Today is a sunny, dry day, and the dial is registering that. It measures 12″ tall, the base is 9.5″ long and 4 1/8 deep. The white enamel over brass face measures 5.5 in diameter. It has a brass bezel as well. There is a slight gap between the base and the molding above it and i see what appears to be a center hollowed out area with a substance in it.
It is very hard to see because the gap is only about 1/16 and in the front only. The dial pointing to “fair” is a metalic blue. The other dial is brass and turns with the center knob. The lens is cracked in 4 places and will need to be replaced.

Oak case measures 10-1/2″w x 8″h x 3-1/4d. Super nice hand carved heavy solid oak case, the dial is made of a card like paper which has some small spotting due to age and has a curved glass thermometer behind a thick beveled glass with a 5″ brass bezel, original brass tag with engraved “captain.
Case was lightened some many years ago, still traces of old dark finish. Besides the 3 nuts on the back holding the barometer to the case, t. May need serviced or repaired.
