German made barometer good condition, if pressure is applied the needle moves, fine scratches all around, inside the dome has dirt and a spider & spider web. Size is 6.5″ inches diameter & 5″ height, weights 2.0 lb. Started in 1889, then called Central Scientific Company, it has designed, manufactured and distributed instruments for analyzing Moisture, Particles, Surface Tension, Viscosity and many more material attributes. This barometer is similar to the model 1210 published in a catalog M from 1912.

Antique Central Scientific Co. Chicago Tyco Rochester NY aneroid barometer with solid brass case. In good antique condition. Some tarnish to the case and light wear to the glass cover. Seems to be working fine but could use calibrating or adjusting. There is small set screw on back for adjusting possibly? Pretty accurate with todays pressure. Measures 5 in dimeter. This was safely packed in a box and in storage for who knows how many years. (no reason to believe this doesn’t work, I don’t see anything missing, the screw heads have never been messed with). Even the bottle still has good red ink in it. There are 30 extra cards and a book that were packed with this. No cracks in the glass. Pretty sure the case is an attractive mahogany. Only very minor light surface blemishes mainly where the glass top meets the base unit (photographed). Not exactly positive, but I believe Ca. The book is dated 1926. Measures 12 1/2″ at the bracket feet by 6 3/4″ wide and is 7 1/2 high (with glass top on it). A really handsome piece overall. I see some say these are made by Taylor, but mine just has the Central Scientific Co. London “Tycos”" white label and the brass tag “Tycos Stormograph Reg. You’ll have to know about these things. You get the book and 30 extra paper graphs with this. This will be difficult, but I will do excellent work to get it to you safely. This barometer was manufactured by the Central Scientific Co. By the color of the metal most of the material composition, besides the wood base, appears to be brass. I believe the wood is mahogany, but it is difficult to tell. Please use photos to determine the wood type. The second plaque indicates that it was originally Government and University of Chicago property. The round glass piece at the bottom of the barometer is complete. Based on feedback from buyers, the original barometer had a round glass tube inside the brass tube. THERE IS NO GLASS TUBE INSIDE. The glass thermometer is completely intact and works. In regards to the condition, there is discoloration and staining that is normal for an item of this age. The wood appears to have been newly stained and redone. There is gouging on the wood at the top (see photo). The brass part from end to end measures about 39.5 long. The wood base measures 42.75″ long and about 4-3/8″ wide. All together it weighs about 5 lbs 6 oz. It will be appropriately packed. Please use photos to best determine value and condition.
