Here is a recent estate find. It Has a Silver Metal Dial and is Dated 1942. 8″ in Diameter, and is Case in a Custom Fitted Oak Wood Case, Signed “Pratt & Whitney. The Case Measures approx. 9″ x 9″ x 5. This is in Good Cosmetic Condition!!! It appears to be working, but has not been Calibrated. This Might Be What You have Been Looking For!!! Found in an estate in central Pennsyvania. I don’t know too much about it other than it’s brass and measures approxiately 2 in diameter. I believe its also nautical in nature.

This is a Victorian brass cased aneroid barometer made by Lucien Vidi. It is an original instrument from before 1930, created by the maker Dubois & Casse. The barometer is a scientific instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure, and it falls under the category of antiques and scientific instruments from before 1930.

Octagon Wood Cased Jeweled Barometer. Good condition, other than a small / faint stress crack around the turn knob in the center. Seems to work well as is.

Udolf Fuess was the tenth child of Ludwig Fuess and Johanna Fuess, née Bilz. During his training with Mechanicus Hermann Pfaff in Göttingen from 1853 to 1857, Fuess attended lectures in mathematics , physics and optics at the university there, among others with Wilhelm Eduard Weber and Johann Benedict Listing. After his apprenticeship, he stayed with Pfaff for six months, then went to his friend Hugo Schröder in Hamburg and in 1860 became an assistant in the R. Löhmann company in Berlin, which manufactured leveling instruments. In 1865, Fuess established his own workshop at Mauerstrasse 84 in Friedrichstadt. In the years that followed, the company moved again and again, in 1870 to Wasserthorstraße 46 in Luisenstadt and in 1873 to Alte Jakobstraße 108. In 1891, the company, which had meanwhile expanded considerably, moved into a new factory building on Dünther Straße in Berlin-Steglitz. From around 1875, Fuess began to manufacture not only optical devices but also meteorological instruments such as anemometers. After the Greiner & Geißler company was taken over in 1877, the range of products was expanded to include thermometers and barometers. As a result, meteorological precision instruments that Fuess developed in collaboration with important meteorologists, such as Richard Aßmann’s aspiration psychrometer and Heinrich von Wild’s vessel lifter barometer , left the workshop. He met the growing demand for recording devices, for example, with the balance barograph and the photogrammetricCloud Automata by Adolf Sprung and the Rain Recorder by Gustav Hellmann. Many of his developments were recommended as standard instruments and could be used for calibration. In addition to the scientists, he also supplied the industry. His anemometers were used in mines, his thermometers in the chemical industry and his hygrometers in tobacco factories. Rudolf Fuess died in 1917 and was buried in the old cemetery of St. From 1990 to 2015 his grave was dedicated to the city of Berlin as a grave of honor. Nice antique brass cased holosteric barometer, made in France by Pertuis, Hulut, Bourgeois, Naudet and signed PHBN on the dial as well as stamped on the back of the case. Seems to be in working condition. Brass case measures about 4 7/8 inches wide. No damage or major wear to the case. Small shallow ding to the back of the case and the face shows some discoloration as pictured. Accuracy / precision of device is unknown. Refer to the photos for a better idea of the style and condition, you will receive the exact barometer that is pictured. From my Barometer collection: Here we have an Antique, J. BROWN, GLASGOW Gentlemen’s Gilt Brass Cased Pocket Aneroid Barometer – Altimeter with Leather Case. James Brown was an optician and scientific instrument maker located in Glasgow, Scotland from approx. 1871 to the very early 1900’s. The dial is marked. The instrument is in Excellent’used’ condition. The brass cased barometer is in very good working order and has been verified by use of the’plastic bag’ test. The case has a bright aged brass patina from being kept in its original case. The back of the case has fancy script initials of the person who owned this (probably a gift). The Moroccan Red Leather case is in good condition with minor wear to the surfaces from use. It has a green felt bottom liner and green satin top liner. The push button clasp is working but has los. Its leather covering from use. The dial surface is in very good condition with a clean appearance. The revolving pointer ring is moved by using knurled knob at the top and works nicely. The beveled-edge crystal has no scratches or edge nicks. The top crown and bow ring are in good condition. A very early, Maker marked, working barometer for your collection! Really nice two sided cased Tycos, Short & Mason pocket instrument. One side is the compensated barometer with rotating altitude adjustment up to 12,000 ft. The other side reveals a compass and thermometer (Fahrenheit scale). Instrument condition: Very good; the bezel for the barometer turns easily; the temperature looks accurate (it’s a thin line tube so you have to train your eye); the compass unlocks easily and works; we tested the barometer by putting instrument in zip lock bag and pressing gently watching the needle move. Tarnish around the bezel which will likely polish off, but does not detract. Case condition: Good for age. A bit of leather is missing on part of the rim. One of the two release pins is missing and will need to be replaced. Can open the side w/ missing pin using a stylus or awl. Both case and instrument bear initials: E.
