Up for sale is a large size, vintage barometer, made of beautiful tiered reddish colored cherry wood frame. The barometer has a raised or rounded glass case with clear dials and a brass surround. There is a large brass ring at the top giving the appearance of a large clock. It hangs by a toggle hook set into the back of the barometer (see last photo). To my knowledge, it is in working order, but may need calibration. A very handsome, substantial piece, British and American made as indicated by the dual patent dates. Size: 17 1/2 x 3 1/2 approx. S mardo M ilitaria. Original 1944 WWII British Portable Mark II Aneroid Barometer Aircraft & Ships. Working condition is unknown, top adjustable needle works, unsure if barometer is actually working, needle seems to be stuck between 880-890 millibars (the local barometric pressure as I write this is 1006 Mbs). Brass case has a small dent on the back edge and a couple of very small dings. Back is marked “MARK II” with an “M” over an “O”. Top of case has a brass swivel ring to hang from a hook. Measures 5 1/8″ diameter across the face x 2 1/2″ thick. Brass case has a nice light patina from age. Silver paint on face has very light rippling from age, very presentable. I believe the number on the front are “19206/44″ which denotes the serial number and the year 1944. This beautiful barometer will make an outstanding addition to your collection! Measuring 44″ tall by 12″ in diameter this antique, early 19th century, Working, English Wheel Barometer has a few feature that are not found on other examples. There are two small knobs at the bottom used to set a two different hand on the 10 ½ diameter face. One is for “yesterday” and the other is for today. Also, it difficult to see, but the glass in front of the 12 ½” tall by 2″ wide Thermometer is convex. This thermometer is on milk glass and is in excellent, working condition. The face of the barometer, the hands and the convex crystal are all original and in wonderful condition. The only real problem is to the fine, figured Mahogany case. At the top is a classic Broken Arch. In the close-up photograph you will see that both arches have been repair. The rest of this circa-1830s Mahogany Case in excellent condition including the antique finish. In the photographs of the back you can see that this barometer is in complete condition. We can handle it properly including packing the delicate j-tubes. We will be over packing it for safety. This is very important! . This investment grade, 19.
