It is no longer working properly. The solid oak wood case has a rope carved border. The thick, beveled glass face is in excellent shape and is held by a sound brass bezel. The porcelain dial with detailed printing and lovely decorative flourishes is in great condition. It also has its original hands and brass hanging fitting on the back. The barometer can be adjusted by means of the screw located through the little hole in the back. The barometer wood casing is 10 inches in diameter and 2.75 inches tall. The glass display window is 8 inches in diameter. Photos 9.10.11 show the brass bezel. On the right is the seam where ends meet. I enjoyed having this nautical themed barometer in our Pensacola Beach front condo. It worked for years, accurately predicting weather changes. I admit that it was I who painted it white–in the late 90’s, I used white and blue everywhere! The barometer has been stored in a box in an interior closet since about 2003 and, as stated, is no longer working. This is a handsome barometer to display even if you do not repair the works. This antique working barometer has 8 diameter back plate with 3 mounting holes to attacht to any decorative backing you choose. The case is 4″ deep and 6 1/2″ across with ivory color dial painted in black with ornate script alternating with olde english block for the conditions. Decorative star motif marks the center shaft. Don’t know about setting the hand on the bezel, but the hand on the face has so far pointed to the weather outdoors, so i assume it is in good working order. No damage to face, glass or brass. No pitting, but could use polishing. Heavy model, weighing almost 6 pounds and will be carefully packed.
