Antique Sling Psychrometer made by Friez company in Baltimore Maryland. A device to measure humidity with two thermometers one with a sock that is wet and one without. The device is swung around and the difference between the two thermometers tells the level of humidity. Believed to be made prior to 1904 when the factory burned in the Baltimore Fire. Measures about 14 inches long. The Thermometers about 9 inches long. It is Catalog number 552. Friez established a factory on the corner of German and Grant Streets, Baltimore, Maryland, under the name of Julian P. Friez & Sons, Manufacturers of Weather Instruments. Was completely wiped out in the devastating fire of 1904, which cleared the whole section of Baltimore. 1905 barometer from Baltimore, Maryland. I couldn’t find the maker but Chas. Was a Baltimore optician in 1905. The barometer was made in and measures 6 3/4″ X 2 1/2″ England and does have some brass wear, but otherwise beautiful. It is in perfect operating condition. Please feel free to ask me any questions. Holosteric brass wall barometer compensated. I believe this is an early instrument by the Julien P. I think it dates back to the 1890s It’s one of a kind because I can not find any other barometers or other instruments this early by Julien P. This barometer is in good overall attic find condition , need polishing. The beveled glass is in good condition as is the dial and thermometer. It measures 5 across the face. The box is finger dovetail construction and has a slide on top also in good condition. Used but not abused. It appears to have been stored away for a very long time the barometer was packed with a straw like material when i found it.
