While Dollond, a company known for its high-quality instruments, previously produced aneroid barometers, the company shifted focus primarily towards Aitchison’s retail optometry (binoculars, eyeglasses) after the 1927 merger, allowing for a very short window of opportunity to produce or market scientific instruments together.
